Scott “Mag” Hughes is an educator and performer. During a career that spans over 25 years, he has worked with children and adults performing and teaching juggling, circus arts, footbag, Frisbee, and clowning.
He studied Physical Education, Recreation and Leisure Studies at McPhersonCollege, WashburnUniversity, and PortlandStateUniversity. In 1985 Mag was trained and received certification as a juggling institute representative. Mag is well known as one of the pioneers of the sport of Footbag (hackysack), and holds national and world titles in Footbag competition. In recognition of his efforts in promoting the sport of footbag, Mag was inducted as an inaugural member of the Footbag Hall of Fame in 1997.
Mag has taught and performed in the areas of juggling, circus arts, footbag, and flying disc in over 5000 schools throughout the United States, Europe, and Australia. During this time Mag founded and currently directs WE CARE SPORTS, a company that specializes in alternative sports school assembly programs. For the past four years, Mag has been an instructor for a graduate level class in circus arts through the Department of Physical Education at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Mag’s makes heroes out of his students and gives everyone a sense of self confidence and self esteem. He believes in the motto “THE MOST FUN WINS!.”
